Dr Marwan Alshar’e is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Sohar University, Sohar, Oman. In 2016, he received his Ph.D. in computer science. His main area of focus was computer and cyber security.
He has extensive academic and teaching experience from a variety of international and multicultural academic institutions. He started his academic work in 2008, and during his service, he taught various modules for Undergraduate(UG) and Postgraduate(PG) levels, was actively involved in supervising UG final year projects, and was also invited to serve as an internal and external examiner for Masters and Ph.D. dissertations/theses.
His major research interests are in cyber security at different structures and platforms, which include personal computers, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). His research interests also include Information Systems Design and Development, AI, and E-learning. He also managed and participated in a number of funded projects, whose outcomes and results were presented at conferences and published in indexed journals.
